Differences between UniMac’s Industrial Washer Extractors and Regular Washing Machines

unimac washer parts

You could never go wrong with on-premises laundry equipment from UniMac. UniMac washer parts are durable and tailored for the demands of the commercial laundry market. Even better, their innovations help reduce costs which is always good for business. Although their laundry equipment is made for the commercial market, choosing between a UniMac washer extractor and a regular washing machine can be quite the challenge.

Deciding which one to go for requires knowing how different the machines are from each other. That said, here’s a look at the difference between UniMac’s washer extractor and regular washing machines:

UniMac Washer Parts are made for Commercial Service

UniMac washer extractors come in different varieties, each designed to handle large loads for various facilities. The company’s high-performance industrial washer extractor is best for hotel and long-term care facilities. It also offers innovations that lower costs and provide higher throughput. They also have mid-performance commercial washer extractors for establishments, like small hotels, that don’t really need really high G-Force extraction.

Above all, a commercial washer comes in various pound capacities. This means that a laundry service can offer different capacities to suit the needs of customers.

A Commercial Washer Extractor Uses High Spin Cycles

Regular washing machines can do their task at a leisurely pace but those who avail of commercial laundry services are usually in a hurry. They need clothes, linens, and other items washed and dried at the quickest possible time. Plus, large loads need to be put in at once.

With high spin cycles, a washer extractor can extract water quicker which also cuts the amount of time items need to be dried. That alone can help save on costs, which is always helpful for facilities that do a lot of washing such as hospitals, hotels, motels, and spas.

They Can Handle Very Large Laundry Volumes

Just thinking about the number of items that need to be washed and dried in small, medium, and large-sized establishments is a good reason to get a washer extractor. As mentioned, such machines come in different sizes designed to handle different loads.

A smaller facility, like a motel or a spa, can opt for high-performing machines and have one that provides for their exact needs. Larger establishments, like hotels, wash a huge number of towels, robes, sheets, and even clothes in a single day. UniMac can offer a machine that suits exactly their needs. Plus, sticking to the brand makes it easier to find UniMac washer parts in case something goes wrong.

A UniMac washer extractor is also built to take on the use and abuse of commercial laundry service. As such, it will take a long time – with proper maintenance of course – to call for UniMac washer parts replacement.

Choosing between UniMac’s washer extractor and a regular washing machine shouldn’t have to be that hard though. If you know that you’re establishment is going to handle large laundry volumes each day, you won’t go wrong with choosing a UniMac machine.

Different Markets that Can Benefit from a Better On Premise Laundry Service

on premise laundry

A lot of people have dirty clothes and other items to throw into the wash. While some do their laundry from the comfort of their homes, others head to a nearby laundry shop to have their items washed and dried. Then there are also establishments that could really benefit from having an on premise laundry service. Let’s take a look at a few of them:

Athletic Facilities

Gyms and fitness centers aren’t just found in main streets; schools and some offices have them as well. These kind of facilities need a lot of items to be washed and dried, fast. Towels, in particular, make up a huge part of an athletic facility’s laundry volume. As such, an on premise laundry with high-spin machines that remove water quicker and reduce drying time are essential.

Schools that have a sports team – or more than one of them – can also benefit from having an in-house laundry service. This way, it’s easier to take care of team uniforms and other necessities such as towels used during practice and matches. A lot of team uniforms are made from moisture-wicking material, and that needs special handling. All the more better to set up laundry services within campus to make sure everything goes right.

Fire Department

Firemen are exposed to a lot of chemicals and agents in their line of work. As such, their clothing and gear can’t just be sent off to any cleaner. Contaminants that soil a fireman’s gear can also be a public health hazard so it really needs to be dealt with.

Given the nature of what firemen are exposed to, the National Fire Protection Association have guidelines on how to properly wash and dry apparel worn by firemen. Careful cleaning is important to ensure proper decontamination. This is one of the reasons a fire department can benefit from having an on premise laundry service.

Healthcare Facilities

Hospital and clinics have a strict infection control procedure. People with varying degrees of health concerns visit such establishments and it’s important that nothing exacerbates their condition when they are inside a health facility. This is why sheets, pillowcases, and any other material that patients use should be properly cleaned. Plus, such facilities also deal with issues such as incontinence so a fast change of sheets and their cleanup is required.

Hospitality Facilities

Hotels and motels function like a second home. In short, lots of things need to be washed. Sheets, pillowcases, towels, and even the guest’s dirty laundry need to be cleaned. But when it comes to the laundry of guests, hospitality facilities can choose to implement vended machines or an actual laundry service where customers leave items to be washed in a laundry bag.

Spa or Salons

Like athletic facilities, towels will comprise a majority of laundry volume in facilities like spas or salons. And in order to provide customers with a luxurious experience, spas offer soft and fluffy robes, which do need to be cleaned after single use by a client for sanitary purposes.

An on premise laundry service allows establishments to better monitor the washing and drying quality as well as provide a faster and more efficient service for their clients.

Ideas to help with your Hotels and Motels Laundry Service

hotels laundry service

Customers will not hesitate to recommend your hotel or motel if you provide good service. However, a lot of elements make up what clients would call “good service” and one of them includes your hotels laundry service.

People stay in hotels or motels for any number of days. Some are in town for business while others come for pleasure. Either way, someone who books accommodation might want to wash their clothes. And rather than send them off to a laundry place, offering an in-house hotels laundry service allows them to spend more time on important things.

There are different ways your hotels laundry service, each with their own benefits. Here are a few ideas:

Cut Down Costs by Using Machines that Help Save Money

A hotels laundry service will spike operational costs. Washers need not only electricity to function but also water. Adding dryers to the equation bumps up the cost even more. However, what you end up paying also has a lot to do with the kind of machine you have.

There are washers and dryers today that that help you save on costs. Viking offers commercial machines with fewer parts, which means fewer breakdowns and repairs. Dyers that have high extraction speeds up the drying process leading to reduced energy consumption and increased savings.

Implement Certain Rules When it Comes to Laundry

Guests will bring food and drink into their rooms. Sometimes, you may even provide a mini fridge with beverages they can enjoy. With an assortment of liquids available, something is bound to spill. And that something can lead to stains if it is a particularly colorful liquid.

When the spill occurs on sheets and pillows, you can ask guests to inform a member of staff immediately so they can take care of the mess and replace you with fresh linen as well. Spills happen but stains that are not attended to straightaway can bring up costs.

Provide Each Room with a Laundry Bag

Whether your hotels laundry service is self-serve or not, it helps to have a bag where customers can put in their dirty laundry to be taken care of. If you do the washing and drying, you can put in a piece of paper for customers to list down what they have sent for cleaning. This can be useful in case of complaints about missing items of clothing.

Offer Some Form of Entertainment to Pass the Time

Comfortable seating is essential for any laundry room, even in commercial establishments. And since washing clothes does take time, offering entertainment such as magazines and the day’s papers helps pass the time while customers wait for their laundry to be done.

You can even offer extra services like folding in case a customer requests because they have to attend to some matters.

An in-house laundry service is a good way to improve customer experience in your hotel or motel. And the ideas presented here can help make your service a lot better.

Common problems and fixes for commercial washers

washer service

You should learn to expect washer problems when running a commercial washer service in California. Although they are built to take a lot of abuse, that doesn’t mean they can’t break down after many years in service. So apart from setting aside a budget for machine maintenance, you also need to be aware of the common problems that can afflict your washers.

Here’s a look at the most common parts and problems we’ve encountered from our commercial washer service:

Drain System

A problem with the drain is a common problem with commercial washers. Usually, the trouble lies when the valve fails or there is a line blockage.

A drain problem is easy to check in an open sump drain system as all you have to do is run a wash cycle. You will notice water filing the basin but no water would be passing through the drain.

Much more checking is required for closed drain systems. You’re still going to run a wash cycle and check the drum to see the water level rise. If it doesn’t, you’re most likely dealing with a faulty drain valve or a blockage. If it’s the latter, the lines need to be checked.

The problem could also lie with water level switches if the water level keeps rising and the water doesn’t shut off. Also, washers of any size should drain in 30-40 seconds so if it takes a minute to do so, there is likely a problem with the drain line or valve.

Water Valves

If the water valve of your washer is stuck on, it will need a rebuild kit but you also have to make sure that the seat is not cracked. There’s also a way you can fix the problem by taking apart the valve to clear it of debris.

Display and Lights

When either the display or lights turn on, check the breaker to see if it’s on. If that’s fine, you can use a volt-meter to check the power that leads into the machine. If that seems fine, you will have to check the control fuses but before you do, make sure the power is turned off.

When the machine won’t start but the lights and display turn on, there might be an issue with the circuit breaker. Although most machines use three separate 120V lines, the controls only use two and the circuit breaker might only be working for the wrong two lines.

A blown line fuse can also cause the machine to not start but still allow the controls to work. So you can check on them but if they turn out fine, the problem might be with the interlock switches.

Drum

When the drum won’t turn on, the problem most likely lies with a broken belt. And even with a broken belt, you will still hear the motor turning. As such, you might have to call a washer service to help solve this issue.

Commercial washing machines will run into trouble sooner or later. It helps to know what the common ailments are so you can either provide a remedy or decide that the problem requires the help of a professional commercial washer service in California.

Offering Guests a Better On Premise Laundry Service Experience

on premise laundry service

An on premise laundry service is a great addition to your hospitality business. When you have washers and dryers on site, your guests no longer have to find a place to do their laundry. Although providing this kind of service offers convenience, there are still ways to make it better. Here are a few ideas:

Offer Extra Services

Guests are in town for a reason: they want to explore. However, needing to do laundry strips away time; time that could be used to experience what a certain place has to offer. So why not offer each of your guests a laundry bag where they can put all of their dirty clothes, which you will make sure to get washed and folded within the day?

Another option is to ask them to drop their clothes that need to be washed where your laundry room is located. Or, they can start the washing service but you will take care of throwing the washed clothes in the dryer and folding them after.

Provide Simple “Amusements”

Doing laundry can be really boring. Since not everyone enjoys seeing a machine spin clothes, why not provide guests with some other form of entertainment? You don’t have to be really fancy; even the simple pleasures will do. For instance, you can provide some reading material in the form of newspapers (for the day), magazines, and even books.

Your on premise laundry service can also offer free coffee to guests while they wait for their clothes to finish in the wash. Or, you can go for a revenue-generating option in vending machines for both food and drink. If your space allows it, you can also add an arcade machine, which can entertain children and the child at heart.

Install a Change Machine

Not everyone who does laundry has a bunch of coins on them all the time. Sometimes, they need their bills changed. While you can always stock coins, why not let a machine do it for you?

If you want to go the cashless route, swipe cards can be your go-to method. That way, guests can just top up when their balance is running a bit low.

Have a Mix of Different Sized Machines

Guests can stay for as long or as short as they want. Sometimes, your guests can be a family with more than three members. This means that they will have a bunch of laundry to do. As such, it helps to have a machine that allows them to dump all their dirty clothes for just one wash.

Sometimes, installing machines with different weight loads might come later. You just can’t tell from the get go if there will be large families booking in your place.

Have Some Chairs or Benches

Doing laundry means having to wait. As such, it helps to provide some sort of seating where your guests can wait while machines get working on their laundry.

An on premise laundry service really helps guests out but you can do much more to make the experience worthwhile.

Common Mistakes that Are Made at Laundromats

laundry business

You might think, “How hard could it be to run a laundry business?” Yes, people need to do laundry and running a business providing that service in an area where it’s needed is very much appreciated. But simply putting up machines in a well-located space isn’t “running a laundry business”; it takes a lot more than that.

The great thing about opening a business offering laundry services is that many people have done it; some of them failed while others succeeded. While it’s tempting to know the secrets of successful ventures, it’s a lot more important to learn from failures.

That said, here are the common mistakes that can be made at a laundry business and how to avoid them:

#1: Assuming That Running a Self-Service Laundry is Easy

How hard could it be? All the machines are laid out and all people need to do is insert some coins to get the process going. It’s quite simple, right? Well, it’s a lot more complicated than that.

A laundry service is a business. It needs to be run properly, managed, and marketed really well for it to survive. Getting into this kind of business means that you’re not just overseeing day-to-day operations; you also have to manage your staff, make sure the equipment is maintained regularly, check that finances are in order, and even do some advertising and marketing. Although you don’t need to be really skilled in these areas, it helps to have an awareness of how things go so you can approach it your way.

#2: Failing to do Research

Just because the area you live in contains apartments and dormitories doesn’t mean that you can just put up a laundry business. You also have to check Laundromat service quotes Sacramento from possible competitors. You need to look at what you can improve should there be competing services in the area.

Location is key no matter what kind of business you’re putting up. Whether you are starting a laundry service or purchasing one, it helps to know the demographics of the area so you know how best to serve customers.

In case you’re renting space, you have to make sure that the building can actually support its purpose. This involves checking electrical components and other elements to ensure that everything will work as planned.

You will also have more to do if you’re building from scratch. And that includes getting washers and dryers suited for commercial purposes.

#3: Having too Little Business Capital

You need to have more than enough reserves to make it to a year in business. The sad truth about opening a business is that you might not even break even in your first year. This highlights the importance of having reserves to ensure the venture stays afloat.

#4: Going at it All by Yourself

A lot of things need to be going at once when running a self-service laundry. How can you find the time to tweak Laundromat service quotes Sacramento when you’re too busy attending to customers? This is why you need a team to help you out with day-to-day operations. With a bit of help, you have time to think of ways to make your business better.

Running a laundry business is complex but you can learn from the mistakes of others so you’re not bound to repeat them.

Milnor Commercial Washer Parts

milnor commercial washer

The United States was experiencing a boom with washing machines, but then came the Great Depression. Since people could no longer afford to purchase their own, entrepreneurs decided to buy them, then rent them out. Parts for Milnor commercial washer tend to get really beaten up over the course of a day. Many people use the machines to varying degrees, and parts tend to break down over time. For years people were looking for something better.

The Milnor family of New Orleans, Louisiana couldn’t have timed their entry into the business of making commercial laundry parts in 1947 perfectly. People were still finding it difficult to buy their own washing machine in the 1950s so they were still dependent on commercial establishments to clean their clothes.

The trend of going to a commercial laundry service that started decades ago still exists to this day. And Milnor Laundry is still going strong 64 years after they launched their business.

Today, the company remains a top producer of dryers, washers, and washer-extractors. They have more than 500 washing machine part experts at their 400,000 square foot complex in New Orleans working to deliver the highest quality laundry equipment.

Milnor Laundry remains a family owned business and their machines are all made in-house.

Milnor Washer Parts

Washing machines break down – that is a part of its life cycle. But there are problems that can be fixed by replacing some parts. And many parts for Milnor commercial washer are available at Viking Laundry Service.

A timer is considered the brain behind the functions of a washing machine. It is comprised of many contact switches that open and close to allow the various components to work. Usually, it’s also the first component checked in a malfunctioning washer, but of course it’s not always the cause.

Washers also have a safety mechanism built to avoid injuries and other accidents. This comes in the form of the lid switch. Certain functions will be interrupted once a lid is opened. This component can be to blame when a washer won’t spin anymore.

A water valve is used to supply the washing machine with water from the home. This component controls hot or cold water through solenoids, one is responsible for cold water and the other for hot water. Valve screens can clog up over time due to the buildup of debris resulting in reduced water volume entering the tub. When this happens, it will take a lot of time for the washer’s tub to fill up with water.

Washers also have a water pump that is responsible for circulating water. It circulates water during the wash cycle then drains it during the spin cycle.

Clothes need to be moved around to loosen soil and dirt. The responsibility for that lies with the agitator, which rotates continuously during the wash cycle. During this phase, clothes are getting cleaned by rubbing against each other.

Helping out the agitator is the motor. It provides the motion required for washing and rinsing and it can be set at different speeds.
